This guide covers the most frequently asked questions to help you understand our process, what to expect, and the terms of service.

About Precision Surveyors & Accreditations

Are your surveyors RICS registered?
Our surveyors hold a range of professional accreditations, including:
• RBSA – Residential Building Surveyors Association
• MCIOB – Member of the Chartered Institute of Building
• CABE – Chartered Association of Building Engineers
Will I know who my surveyor is before the inspection?
Yes. We will confirm your surveyor's name and professional credentials to you prior to the inspection date, so you know exactly who will be attending the property.

Booking & Payments

How do I book a survey?
Please visit our Book Now page to submit your details, property information, and sign our terms and conditions. Once completed, one of our team members will contact you to discuss your quotation and payment. Once payment has been received, we will liaise with the relevant party to arrange the survey.
When is the best time to book a survey?
We recommend booking your survey as early as possible once your offer has been accepted, regardless of whether your mortgage has been formally arranged. A survey can take place before your mortgage offer is finalised, and the report can provide valuable information that may influence your negotiations or mortgage application. The sooner you book, the more time you have to factor any findings into your decision.
Do you offer drone surveys or roof inspections?
We do not currently offer standalone drone surveys or aerial roof inspections. Our surveyors will inspect accessible roof areas and report on their condition as part of the standard survey. If a roof requires specialist access beyond what is reasonably possible during the inspection, this will be noted in your report with a recommendation to instruct a specialist.

The Inspection

Can I attend the inspection?
It is industry standard practice for buyers not to be present during a survey. This allows the surveyor to maintain full independence and concentrate entirely on the property. Having the buyer present can be a distraction from the primary objective of carrying out a thorough inspection, and there is a risk that something could be missed as a result — which could affect the accuracy of your report.

If you would like to revisit the property, you may wish to arrange access directly with the estate agent. Please note that the surveyor is unlikely to grant access while the inspection is in progress, and access arrangements without the surveyor present will be at the discretion of the agent and vendor.
How long does the inspection take?
Inspection times vary depending on the size, age, and condition of the property. A typical residential survey takes between two and four hours. Your surveyor will carry out a thorough visual inspection of all accessible areas, including the roof, structure, walls, floors, services, and outbuildings where relevant.

Your Report

How long will it take to receive my report after the inspection?
Reports are typically delivered within 7 business days of the inspection date.
How are photographs delivered?
Photographs are included within your report document and will be delivered within 7 business days of the inspection. If you experience any difficulty opening or viewing the report, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
Can I add repair costings to my report?
Yes. We can provide estimated repair costings as an additional service for £120.00. This can be arranged at the time of booking or added after your report has been issued — simply contact us and we will arrange this for you.
Can I speak to my surveyor after receiving the report?
Yes. If you have questions following your report, a post-report call with your surveyor is available where needed. Calls are up to 15 minutes in duration and are included as part of your service at no additional charge.
